"It's not all that bad," Nicole tried to reassure him.
"How's that?" Sheldon asked glumly.
Nicole sauntered closer and winked. "George won't be home for another hour. That gives us plenty of time..."
Orb's Year 926
"Dad, I don't need to do it every day. Nobody else does!" George grumbled.
"Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day; show him how to catch fish, and you feed him for a lifetime. Without knowledge, we cannot accomplish the smallest of tasks," Sheldon began lecturing.
George rolled his eyes. He'd heard this speech a million times. Resigned to the inevitable, George plopped down and started doing his work as his Dad waxed poetic about fish. Stupid fish.
"There you are," she said smiling. "I was looking for you."
Sheldon kissed his wife's cheek. "Good morning, sweetheart. Would you like me to make you breakfast?"
Nicole turned green and put a hand on her stomach. "Don't even mention food to me right now!"
Sheldon frowned, "I know you have morning sickness, but I think eating some fruit would be good for you."
Nicole smiled and stroked her worried husband's cheek. "Thank you. I'll see if I can nibble some strawberries from the Farmer's."
Orb's Year 927
Sheldon hurriedly woke up and fretted over Nicole's laboring.
"Shhh... he's sleeping," Nicole cautioned as he walked into the room."
Sheldon gazed down at his sleeping son and squeezed Nicole's hand. "You've never looked more beautiful," he told her.
Nicole frowned. "Oh please. I'm a mess!" she said, her hands automatically going to smooth her tangled hair. With a newborn, she'd hardly had time to see to any of her personal needs!
"Blessed Orb! Don't do that in my room!" George scowled when the giggling awoke him. Throwing the pillow over his head, he rolled over and plugged his ears.
Thankfully, the giggling receded to their room and he sighed with relief.
Orb's Year 928
Nicole didn't care. It unsettled her to see the wolf so near their house every night. She worried about Henry getting hurt. She redoubled her efforts to keep the blasted animal away from her family.
George knocked on the door and peeked his head in. "I'll grab him, if you want," he offered.
Nicole sighed with pleasure, "Would you? I'll be up in a minute," she promised.
George lifted his little brother up in his arms and led him away. "Come on, little one. Let's let Mother get some more rest."
