Consul, Orb's Year 941-944

Orb's Year 941
The place just wasn't the same without Haydin and Gaius around anymore.

Thankfully, they both dropped by for Finn's big Orb's Year Celebration.
Of course, Gaius somehow managed to bring over a few ladies to give him celebratory hugs.
Finn was quite taken with the beautiful Giovanna.
At the appointed hour, everyone gathered around as Finn made a wish and blew out the candle on his cake.
Happy birthday Finn Consul!

Orb's Year 942
Finn immediately signed up for the King's Guard under Prince Benedict Royale.  He'd never been interested in studying ancient texts like his father or Haydin.  He wanted to be someone that his family could be proud of!
Princess Catherine spent much of her time exploring recipes in the kitchen.  She had Cirdon's mother, Princess Cassidy to thank for her love of cooking.  She couldn't even cook toast when she'd married Cirdon - so used to the servants that had cared for her at the Royale castle!
And Ihriel - well that little girl was always stationed in front of a book, either reading or writing.  Catherine was sure that she would inherit her father's scholarly genes!

Orb's Year 943
"Come on, let's go look at the cake again!" Ihriel said excitedly to her friend, Alessandra Knowles.  Maybe if her parents kept busy with each other, they could sneak a taste of the frosting!
Happy Birthday Ihriel!
Catherine was so happy to see her family gathered around the room laughing and playing once more.  Sometimes the castle felt too empty without all her boys!

Orb's Year 944
"It's time to teach you to cook," Catherine told her daughter, ignoring her protests and grumblings.  "Every lady should be able to prepare a meal for her family!"
Ihriel trudged downstairs.  She didn't want to spend her time baking or practicing embroidery.  There was so many books that she could be reading!
"Ihriel, what did you do?" Catherine cried out when she smelled something burning.  She ran into the kitchen was shocked to see the flames shooting from the cabinets.

Ihriel fidgeted in place, not knowing what to do.  "I don't know, Mother! The recipe seemed so easy! What should I do?!"
Finn pushed past his family and was able to extinguish the fire quickly.

"Oh Blessed  Orb!" Catherine sighed with relief.  "Thank you Finn!"
Ihriel pulled the meal from the fire and sighed.  "Well... dinner's ready," she said unenthusiastically.

Cirdon clamped his hand on his daughter's shoulder and smiled kindly, "Perhaps tonight we head over to Taveryn's Kitchen and let someone else do the cooking for us!"
